Description

Instructional Practices for Working Complex Texts

As we progress in our fields and deepen our levels of expertise, we develop an intimacy with complex texts. Around these we construct thoughtful lessons which sail through familiar waters to a solid goal. It sometimes escapes us that our students are so beleaguered by the rocky shoals that they never see the destination. They struggle through a lesson just to realize at the end of it that nothing was learned.

During this workshop we will discuss effective strategies to assist students comprehending complex texts while creating effective study skills. You will leave this session with a repertoire of practices that will help your students overcome the fear for complex texts.
